AeroPress
What is it?
The Aeropress was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler (the engineer who invented the Aerobie Frisbee)! It consists of two lightweight cylinders and a filter basket.
Why we love it!
Produces a full-bodied and clean cup of coffee.
Quick and easy to use and clean
Compact and ideal for travel
What you need
- Aeropress coffee brewer
- Aeropress filter papers

- A cup (or jug) to brew into

Makes one serving of 160ml
Coffee: 15g
Water: 200g
Total brew time: 2mins
Grind size:medium to fine
Steps
- Bring at least 1/2litre of fresh water to the boil. While waiting for the water to boil, pop the filter paper in the filter basket and attach it to the bottom of the Aeropress chamber.
- Add coffee to the set-up and tare scales to zero.
- Pour water and start timer
- Place plunger on top to stop dripping
- At 1 minute, stir gently
- Reinsert plunger and brew to 2 minutes
- At the 2-minute mark, gently and slowly press the plunger down until the brewed coffee is in your cup.
- Give the brew a stir, and then enjoy!
Tips!
if you find it hard to plunge make the grind a little coarser.
Rinse your filter paper and cup with warm water (This heats up your Aeropress and cup, and rinses the paper at the same time). Discard the water from the cup once it’s filtered through.
To clean the Aeropress after use turn it so the filter is facing up and remove the plastic filter holder. Slowly press the coffee ground and paper filter into the bin or compost.
